TMC TRAINING POSSIBILITIES FOR MEMBERS 2016

MOUNTAINEERING & CLIMBING:

Alpine Skills Intro – see Jonathan Conville Trust subsidised courses for 18 – 30 year olds; can be booked via www.plas-y-brenin.co.uk.   Booking for 2017.

Advanced Ropework – a one day course for TMC members on Sunday 19 June based in Llanberis with Andy Newton M.I.C. holder and Instructor.  Cost at £30 per person with a minimum of 4 applicants.  Apply by 22 May latest! First come first served!  The course will cover use of double ropes on climbs; stance management; some improvised rescue skills; recap on anchoring skills and more!  There are options to stay in North Wales for the weekend or to travel up for the day only sharing transport.  Book through Mike Reynolds, Committee member and contact for more details. Trad Climbing & Leading: A BMC course for BMC club members on 2-3 July venue the Wye Valley costs at £99 per person including hut accommodation;  also Trad Climbing on Sea Cliffs, 11-12 June at £99 per person, venue Pembroke.  Book directly through the BMC at www.thebmc.co.uk

Improvised Rescue Skills for Climbers:  see the BMC course based in Coniston on 21-22 May at £99 per person including accommodatioin; also on Sea Cliffs at Pembroke on 10-11 September, also at £99.  Book directly with the BMC.

NAVIGATION TRAINING:

See the TMC website for more details of Navigation Part 2, to be confirmed soon based at Bryn Hafod.  It may be possible to complete this on Sunday 22 May following the AGM.   See also Night Nav  courses in the Peak run by www.peaknavigationcourses.co.uk or talk with Chair Rob about them.  Also the BMC is running a NNAS Gold course on 2-3 July based near Froggatt, cost at £85 including accommodation.  Book directly with the BMC.

FIRST AID FOR THE OUTDOORS:

Various courses on offer including at Awesome Walls Stoke and Stockport at certain weekends, costs £110; also a BMC course based in North Wales on 10-11 September, cost £85. Book direct with Awesome Walls or the BMC.

SCRAMBLING:

MOUNTAIN BIKING:

See these courses held throughout the year at www.pyb.co.uk  Various courses are offered from Introductory, Improver and Leadership Award courses.   Also see the International Mountain Bikers Association, UK for more info.  Also talk with the  Meets Secretary  about having some Mountain Biking meets on the programme.

 

Please note that these details will be updated regularly on the TMC website so that members can be kept in touch as various courses develop throughout the year.  Additionally all course instructors are experienced and qualified by National Governing Body Awards and have to follow a CPD programme.
